Doubt…
Doubt in practicing?
Doubt in career choices?
Doubt in trying something new?
Doubt in yourself?
This is for the indecisive people [raises hand]. Some words to get you back on track, pivot your strategy, or some words to let you know it's okay to let it go and try something else.
Back on Track
Oftentimes when we don’t know where to go next - it’s time to take a break! Take an extended break and come back to the project with fresh eyes. Many times there’s a drill sergeant in the back of our head letting us know if we take a break … we’ll fail. It just isn’t true! Take that break and look at your problem or situation with fresh eyes in a few hours/a day.
Pivot
Oftentimes when you take that break and look at it with fresh eyes you realize that the problem could be served better with a different approach or potentially different personnel. Use this as an opportunity to make the decision to find a way to pivot in order to have your project or situation thrive. It can be nerve-wracking to make the decision to do that but it is not giving up - it is keeping the project, situation, or song/piece viable.
Quit
Some situations are just too toxic OR you realize they do not serve you at all. If Back on Track or Pivot do not work - talk to a trusted individual and ask for some advice. Oftentimes, it will help you realize that maybe this project, situation, or song/piece is just not right for you. Quitting can feel hard, as there is often a feeling of not being able to recoup your “sunk cost.”BUT you have to make the brave decision and realization that maybe the project just was not working for right now. In a couple years - it may be the right time.
